Why are your Wills so cheap and inexpensive?

A very common question. We are about 95 percent cheaper than a lawyer. How can our Wills be legitimate and still be valid if we are so inexpensive?

A Will created using our service would be entirely legitimate and accepted by the courts. We have been in business for over 17 years now, have created tens of thousands of Wills and never once heard of an issue with one of our Wills going through the probate system.

We use the exact same software used by estate planning lawyers across Canada, but we give you direct access to it. So you can prepare a document that is word-for-word identical to one prepared by a lawyer, but you have done it yourself. The only difference is that we do not offer legal advice, so if you want custom legal clauses to cover very unusual situations, we cannot help you. For example, if you have a child with special needs receiving government grants and you don't want their inheritance to impact their benefits, then you should have a trust set up by a lawyer. But for 99 percent of people, our Wills work equally as well as a Will prepared by a lawyer (in fact, in many cases our Wills are superior to a lawyer's Will).

One question to ask is "why are Wills written by lawyers so expensive?". If you were preparing a Will to leave everything to your spouse, and in the event of a common accident, leave everything divided between your children, most law firms would have a clerk in the office enter the data into Will writing software and generate a Will. The process takes about 15 minutes. It's not clear why a law firm charges $600-$800 for this.

We are very happy to answer any further questions that you may have (unlike a law firm, we do not charge anything to answer your questions!)
